We're looking for a compassionate, proactive and resilient
Risk Identification Officer to join our Domestic Abuse Service in St Helens on a fixed-term contract until at least March 2027.
In this role, you'll be responsible for reviewing referrals, identifying risk and safeguarding concerns, and helping survivors access the right support at the right time.
You'll often be the first point of contact following a referral, making a real difference during what can be an incredibly difficult and uncertain time.
Working closely with partner agencies and colleagues across the Domestic Abuse Team, you'll help ensure survivors receive a timely, safe and effective response, supporting them on their journey towards increased safety and independence.
What you'll be doing
- Reviewing and triaging domestic abuse referrals to ensure survivors are connected to support as quickly and safely as possible.
- Assessing risk and safeguarding concerns, making informed decisions and taking appropriate action where needed.
- Being one of the first points of contact for survivors, offering information, support and guidance.
- Establishing safe ways to communicate with survivors using the Safe2Speak framework when required.
- Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns involving both children and adults at risk.
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring information is handled sensitively and confidentially.
- Supporting partner agencies with MERIT risk assessments and the domestic abuse referral process.
- Building positive working relationships with professionals across a range of partner organisations.
- Contributing to service performance through accurate data recording, monitoring and reporting.
- Working as part of a supportive team to deliver a high-quality, survivor-focused service.
What we're looking for
- Experience working within a domestic abuse, safeguarding or similar environment supporting vulnerable individuals
- Experience assessing risk, making informed decisions and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- A good understanding of domestic abuse, including coercive and controlling behaviour, risk indicators and the impact on survivors and their families.
- Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and procedures relating to both adults and children.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with survivors and build positive relationships with partner agencies and professionals.
- The ability to manage a busy workload, prioritise effectively and maintain accurate records and case notes.
- A resilient, organised and professional approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, survivor-centred support
Interview Process
Candidates will be invited to attend an interview which will include a 15 minute written activity and a competency-based discussion.
The activity will assess your ability to identify and prioritise risk, make decisions, and respond to safeguarding scenarios.
The interview will focus on your relevant experience, communication skills, and ability to manage referrals and enquiries effectively.
