We’re looking for an enthusiastic, confident and approachable Youth Worker who’s passionate about making a positive difference to young people through sport and physical activity to join the team at FireFit Youth & Community Hub in Liverpool. You’ll use sport, fitness and recreational activities to engage and inspire young people, helping them build confidence, develop new skills, work as a team and make positive choices.

Working alongside our Lead Youth Workers and wider FireFit team, you’ll plan and deliver engaging activities that encourage young people to get involved, try new experiences and achieve their goals, while creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where they can thrive.

Working pattern:

You’ll work 1:45pm to 9:45pm Monday to Friday, plus 11:45am to 7:45pm every other Saturday. When you work a Saturday, you’ll receive a rest day the following week.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan and deliver a varied programme of sports, fitness and recreational activities for young people.
  • Use sport and physical activity to help young people build confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Build positive relationships with young people through group activities and one-to-one support.
  • Create session plans, organise equipment and identify opportunities for new activities.
  • Encourage young people to get involved, try new experiences and achieve their personal goals.
  • Involve young people in the design, delivery and evaluation of activities and support youth voice across the programme.
  • Confidently manage groups, promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Support young people to identify their strengths, overcome barriers and access wider opportunities.
  • Monitor activities, maintain accurate records and complete incident, accident and safeguarding reports where required.
  • Support the wider FireFit offer where needed, including Creative and Chill zones.
  • Promote the FireFit youth offer and help increase membership, attendance and engagement.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and equality procedures at all times.

What we’re looking for:

  • Relevant experience working with children and young people aged 8 to 18.
  • Experience delivering sports and physical activity programmes and engaging young people.
  • Confidence planning and delivering a range of sports, fitness and recreational activities.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with young people and encourage, motivate and support them.
  • Confidence managing groups of young people and responding appropriately to challenging behaviour and conflict.
  • A good understanding of young people’s development needs and the issues that are important to them.
  • Experience and a good understanding of safeguarding when working with children, young people or vulnerable groups.
  • An outgoing, enthusiastic and approachable personality, with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A motivated and resilient approach, with the ability to use your own initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A sports coaching or leadership qualification would be advantageous.
  • A First Aid at Work qualification would also be advantageous, or you’ll be willing to work towards this.
  • An Enhanced DBS check will be required.

Interview process:

Interviews will take place at FireFit Youth & Community Hub on Tuesday 3rd and Friday 6th November 2026. You’ll talk us through a session plan prepared in advance, with details provided beforehand, followed by a competency-based discussion and tour of the Hub.

  • DBS check if applicable (Standard/Enhanced).
