We’re looking for an experienced Financial Accountant (Statutory Accounts) to join on a 6-month fixed-term contract, leading on the delivery of our statutory accounts and year-end process. This is a key role within the finance team, responsible for managing the year-end timetable, producing statutory accounts for the Group and its subsidiaries, and acting as the main point of contact for external audit. You’ll ensure compliance with FRS102, the Housing SORP, and all relevant regulatory requirements, while providing technical advice and guidance to colleagues across finance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading and project-managing the year-end timetable, ensuring key milestones are met
- Producing statutory accounts for the Group and subsidiaries in line with FRS102, Housing SORP, and regulatory requirements
- Acting as the main liaison with external auditors, providing information and responding to audit queries
- Identifying and resolving technical or logistical accounting issues, working closely with finance colleagues and auditors
- Providing technical advice and guidance to the wider finance team on statutory accounting matters
- Keeping senior management updated on progress and key risks
- Ensuring compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks
- Promoting value for money and continuous improvement across financial processes
What we’re looking for:
- A professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Proven experience producing statutory year-end accounts and group financial statements
- Experience of group consolidations
- Strong technical knowledge of FRS102 and Housing SORP
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders and external auditors
- High levels of IT literacy and a flexible approach to working hours
- Experience working within a housing association or social housing environment is desirable
- Experience of driving efficiencies or improvements within financial reporting processes
