About TORTUS

Right now, healthcare is full of people who care deeply, but they are weighed down by clunky systems preventing them from doing their job. Clinicians are spending up to half their day on documentation and admin instead of patients. TORTUS exists to change that. We've built an AI clinical co-pilot that listens, understands and writes in real time, turning exhausting paperwork into a background task. The result: more time, more focus and better care for clinicians and patients. We are the leading enterprise NHS solution and already working (and having amazing impact) with a number of NHS trusts. The foundations are in place. The next chapter is making sure the world actually knows what we've built – and that's where this role comes in.

The Role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to convert warm hospital leads into pilots, rollouts, and long-term contracts. You will act as the main point of contact for NHS trusts, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), and key private healthcare groups, turning semi-qualified opportunities into signed deals while supporting our mission to improve healthcare delivery through technology. You'll be responsible for generating qualified opportunities via outbound prospecting and following up on marketing leads (MQLs). This is a critical role: you'll be the first point of contact for many of our future partners. TORTUS is experiencing rapid growth, and we're growing the commercial team to ensure we deliver the best experience for all of our customers.

About You

You are a motivated, resilient, and resourceful sales professional with a proven track record converting interest into signed contracts in the healthcare sector. You thrive in unstructured, founder-led environments and enjoy navigating complex NHS processes to get deals over the line. Spike: You excel at turning warm interest into pilots and contracts. You can take a semi-qualified lead, understand its requirements, and work systematically through discovery, proposal, and procurement to close the deal. You are solution-oriented, not jaded by NHS bureaucracy, and genuinely believe that deals can get done. Strong relationship-builder: you can work with CCIOs, finance directors, procurement teams, and clinical leads with confidence. Comfortable collaborating across teams: Marketing, Implementation, Product, Partnerships, and founders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured discovery with hospital and ICS stakeholders to understand clinical, operational, and financial needs.
  • Deliver tailored demos highlighting compliance, trust, safety, and patient outcomes.
  • Design pilot programs with clear objectives, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Develop commercial proposals and pricing models with input from leadership.
  • Navigate NHS procurement processes, including tenders, business cases, trust approvals, and budget cycles.
  • Engage directly with NHS decision-makers: CCIOs, procurement leads, finance directors, clinical leads.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for smooth pilot implementation and eventual rollout.
  • Track opportunities from warm lead → pilot → contract → rollout, maintaining full visibility in HubSpot.
  • Provide insights to Marketing and Product on hospital needs, objections, and opportunities for case studies.
  • Monitor competitor activity and NHS trends to inform strategic decisions.

Requirements / Preferences

  • Strong background in enterprise or health system sales, ideally NHS trusts or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable track record of closing deals from semi-warm leads.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and navigating complex NHS procurement processes.
  • Confident presenting to clinical, executive, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and manage a pipeline in a fast-paced, founder-led environment.
  • Positive, solutions-focused mindset - not deterred by NHS protocols!
  • Bonus: experience designing pilots or clinical digital health rollouts.
