Right now, healthcare is full of people who care deeply, but they are weighed down by clunky systems preventing them from doing their job. Clinicians are spending up to half their day on documentation and admin instead of patients. TORTUS exists to change that. We've built an AI clinical co-pilot that listens, understands and writes in real time, turning exhausting paperwork into a background task. The result: more time, more focus and better care for clinicians and patients. We are the leading enterprise NHS AI documentation solution, already working with a number of NHS Trusts and having measurable impact.

The Role

We're looking for a Business Development Manager to run demos with NHS contacts, drive outbound prospecting into senior NHS leaders, and work with internal stakeholders to get pilots live across NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), and key private healthcare groups. Our Commercial Lead handles procurement and contract negotiation; this role is about building relationships, demonstrating the product, and getting pilots off the ground. You'll be part of our newly formed commercial team with exposure to our CEO and Co Founder, so there's lots of room to grow and define the role.

What You'll Do

  • Run tailored demos for NHS contacts, highlighting compliance, trust, safety, and patient outcomes
  • Prospect outbound into senior NHS leaders, CCIOs, clinical leads, trust executives, to generate qualified opportunities
  • Work with internal stakeholders to design and launch pilot programs with clear objectives, timelines, and success metrics
  • Build relationships with NHS decision-makers across clinical, operational, and executive functions
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Marketing, Implementation, Product, Partnerships) to get pilots live and ensure a smooth experience
  • Track opportunities from first contact through to pilot launch in HubSpot
  • Feed insights back to Marketing and Product on hospital needs, objections, and opportunities

About You

You have a few years of NHS-facing experience and understand how NHS people operate, how it differs from B2B, how to navigate the internal politics, and how decisions actually get made. You've likely worked directly with senior NHS stakeholders (CCIOs, clinical leads, trust executives) and can hold your own in those conversations. This doesn't necessarily have to come from a sales or BD background. If you've worked in product, ops, or implementation roles with NHS decision-makers and can demonstrate strong people skills, objection handling, and stakeholder management, you could be the kind of person we're looking for. You're motivated, resilient, and solutions-oriented and thrive in unstructured environments and are comfortable with ambiguity. You'd rather figure it out than wait to be told what to do.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven NHS-facing experience; ideally commercial but could also be product, ops, or implementation
  • Direct experience working with NHS decision-makers (CCIOs, clinical leads, trust executives)
  • Strong people skills: objection handling, stakeholder management, relationship building
  • Confident running demos and presenting to clinical and executive audiences
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, founder-led environment
  • Positive, solutions-focused mindset
  • SaaS background useful but not essential
  • Bonus: experience designing pilots or digital health rollouts within NHS Trusts

What You Get

  • Compensation: Competitive base salary, plus commission and bonus with upside. Meaningful equity in an early-stage company with strong NHS traction.
  • Impact: Help scale a company with proven clinical outcomes from startup to NHS-wide deployment. Our data shows clinicians get 25% more patient-facing time.
  • Team: Join a small, growing Commercial team. You'll help define how we sell, not just execute a playbook.
  • Mission: Give clinicians back their time. This is life-changing for doctors and improves patient care at scale.

Practicalities

Location: London-based (Holborn) with three days per week in the office.

About TORTUS

Tortus was founded to address one of the most fundamental and persistent problems in healthcare: human error driven by cognitive overload and administrative burden. Modern clinicians are overwhelmed by documentation, compliance, and fragmented digital systems, leaving less time and attention for patient care. Our mission is to eliminate avoidable human error in medicine by augmenting clinicians with real-time, agentic AI. An AI co-pilot for every clinician. The core product is a real-time AI system that operates inside live patient consultations. It transcribes and structures conversations, surfaces relevant clinical context and guidelines, and executes downstream actions such as documentation, prescribing workflows, and follow-ups. Doctors and AI collaborate in real time, with the clinician always in control.

Traction

  • 1.5M+ paid consultations processed
  • 10x year-on-year growth
  • Dozens of NHS hospitals deployed
  • 60–80% daily adoption when rolled out
  • 25% time savings per clinician
  • ~60% of UK primary care covered by our Technology
  • Regulated medical device (Class I today, progressing to Class IIa)

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Healthcare serves everyone, so our team should too. We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive organisation where different perspectives are valued and heard. If our mission resonates with you but your experience doesn't look 'typical,' we still want you to consider applying.
