The Quality Manager ensures that all edible nuts, oilseeds, and grains handled by the company meet international food safety, quality, and sustainability standards from procurement to delivery. The role involves close collaboration with traders, logistics, and external suppliers to maintain consistent product quality, ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Conduct quality inspections of incoming and outgoing products, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
- Manage supplier quality audits and coordinate corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Oversee sampling, grading, and analysis of edible nuts, oilseeds, and grains at origin, warehouses, and delivery points.
- Liaise with laboratories for aflatoxin, pesticide, and moisture content testing; maintain related documentation.
- Ensure full traceability of all lots and batches through internal systems.
- Monitor and evaluate storage conditions and coordinate with logistics teams to prevent contamination or spoilage.
- Manage customer complaints related to quality and coordinate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support certification processes (IFS, BRC, Organic, Fairtrade, etc.) and maintain required documentation.
- Train employees and suppliers on quality awareness and food safety practices.
- Work closely with the Trading and Operations teams to ensure alignment between commercial requirements and quality standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Agriculture, Quality Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality control or assurance within the agri-commodities or food industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP) and regulatory frameworks (EU and international).
- Experience with edible nuts, oilseeds, or grains supply chains.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English; German or other EU languages are an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Fluent in English and German (both written and spoken).
- Confident user of MS Office and QMS tools.
