Torpoint Community College is seeking to appoint reliable, enthusiastic and customer-focused Sports Hall Leisure Assistants to support the safe operation of our Sports Hall during evenings, potentially weekends and holiday periods. Indicative timings are 4.45pm to 9.15pm weekdays and 8.45am to 12.15pm on Saturdays subject to bookings received for the Sports Hall. These timings may vary during holiday periods.
Working independently, they will be responsible for opening and securing the Sports Hall, ensuring the facility remains clean, safe and welcoming for community users, carrying out routine security checks, assisting hirers where required and responding appropriately to any issues that arise during lettings.
The successful candidates will be practical, trustworthy and able to work confidently on their own initiative. Good communication skills are essential, together with the ability to undertake physically demanding duties. Previous experience in this kind of role would be advantageous, but is not essential.
The role includes:
- Opening, securing and alarming the Sports Hall
- Monitoring health and safety during lettings
- Preparing facilities for community users
- Maintaining cleanliness of changing rooms, toilets and Sports Hall areas
- Carrying out security patrols of the Sports Hall and surrounding grounds
- Reporting maintenance issues.
These are currently casual contracts due to the uncertainty of the future operations and management of the Sports Hall.
