This role suits someone who loves detail, enjoys solving design problems, and takes real pride in producing clear, consistent and visually refined interfaces. You’ll work closely with the UX Director, Creative teams and Developers, contributing to our design system. You’ll be naturally curious, embracing new tools including emerging AI design features, to help improve speed, consistency and creativity. You’ll be proactive, collaborative, and motivated to support both client needs and the wider goals of the business. You’ll also bring a high level of creativity and visual imagination, developing original interface concepts that can excite clients, elevate proposals and help win work. You’ll be comfortable exploring different creative directions, turning early ideas into compelling designs that balance impact, usability and brand relevance.
Key responsibilities
- Create distinctive, client‑ready UI concepts for pitches and proposals, combining strong visual creativity with usability, accessibility and design system thinking.

- Play an instrumental role in shaping the Torpedo design system and associated Figma UI kit - helping maintain components, patterns and shared documentation.
- Create client design systems and Figma UI kits that exemplify Figma best practice in design tokens, variables, modes, auto‑layout and other industry standard protocols.
- Ensure accessibility and usability standards are consistently applied.
- Take ownership of smaller tasks and design problems, using initiative to move work forward while knowing when to seek support.
Collaboration & workflow
- Collaborate closely with the UX Director to understand design intent and project objectives.
- Work constructively with Creative Directors, Designers and Developers to maintain visual and functional alignment.
- Participate in design reviews, taking feedback positively and iterating quickly.
- Support smooth teamwork by keeping shared Figma files organised, structured and easy for others to work with.
- Contribute to team coordination by helping shape shared assets, templates and design documentation.
Client & business awareness
- Understand project goals and client requirements, producing design work that supports both user needs and wider business objectives.
- Act in the best interest of clients and Torpedo by delivering high‑quality, purposeful work and helping maintain a positive, solution‑focused approach.
Learning & improvement

- Bring proactive suggestions for improving design processes and ways of working.
- Be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, adapting quickly to change and new challenges.
Skills & experience
- 3-5+ years’ experience in UI or digital product design (agency experience ideal).
- A good eye for layout, typography and visual hierarchy.
- Solid understanding of UX principles and how UI supports user needs.
- Experience designing for responsive web and mobile interfaces.
- Experience creating comprehensive design systems, tokenised Figma UI kits and working with front-end developers for Storybook integration.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices.
- Clear communicator who can explain decisions and take on feedback well.
- Curious about new tools and approaches - including AI‑driven design workflows.
What success looks like
- Reliable delivery of polished, consistent UI design across projects.
