An ideal opportunity for a recent or upcoming Mechanical Engineering graduate. Torkington Engineers have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their engineering skills through a comprehensive training programme, all with the aim of becoming a fully trained Methods Engineer in the business.
A permanent, full-time opportunity with an emphasis on training and developing your experience within the business. Salary increasing by £2,500 pa up to £37,500 pa after 3 years employment, at which time the successful candidate will be a trained Methods Engineer. Additional progression available to become a Senior Methods Engineer after a further 2 to 4 years’ experience, with a salary starting £45,000 pa, depending on experience and ability.
We are looking for a graduate to join our team on our 3 years graduate training programme. This is an opportunity to gain the high-end engineering skills knowledge in our leading-edge CNC machining facility to then be able to produce machining time estimations from Customer drawings and generate method of manufacture routings for our busy machine shop. The role includes the procurement of specialist materials, tooling and services, Customer inter-facing and development, and supporting our team of high-skilled engineers based in our machine shop to ensure projects are on-time and meet all Customer specifications.
Our environment is busy and dynamic and the work diverse, interesting and rewarding. There are small quick turnaround jobs through to large turn-key projects, all of which are precision machined and delivery critical.
About you
- Hold a university degree or are set to graduate this summer, ideally in Mechanical Engineering or a similar course.
- Have extra-curricular, hands-on mechanical interests, for example car or motor-bike maintenance, model-making, robotics.
- Industrial experience through a placement year, internship or experience after graduation is an advantage but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, quality-focused with an eye for detail.
- Team player with a positive “Can-Do” attitude.
- Methodical and solutions-based approach.
- Comfortable working to systems and procedures, and able to think clearly and independently.
