We currently have vacancies within Torfaen County Borough Council’s Domiciliary Care Team. We are part of Torfaen’s Integrated Reablement Service (IR) and provide services to individuals living in the community to support them to live independently, safely and well in their own homes or during reablement stays at Ty Glas y Dorlan.
The IR Service operates from Ty Glas y Dorlan and offers a flexible and responsive service which provides practical help, personal care and support in a way that is focused on enabling individuals following illness and/or hospital stay to maximise and maintain their independence in a way that is focused on ‘what matters’ to them and their personal outcomes.
Our Enablement Support Workers are expected to work throughout the borough of Torfaen (North and South) or at Ty Glas y Dorlan. You will work four days out of seven on a planned rota, working a mixture of days and evenings or evenings only. In return, you will further develop your skills and gain valuable experience in Social Care and be part of an innovative service.

Requirements:
- You will have a basic understanding of care in the community and experience of caring for individuals in a paid or voluntary capacity.
- You must be comfortable working on your own, have a flexible approach and be able to maintain good working relationships with the individuals you will support. Having an enthusiastic enabling approach and promoting independence is important.
- A current UK driving licence, business insurance and use of transport is essential.
- You should be qualified to NVQ level II in Care – or to be willing to work towards QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
- You must register as a Domiciliary Care Worker under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.
You must demonstrate how you meet the Essential criteria listed in the attached Person Specification in order to secure an interview. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants, which will include an Enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
