This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, multi-disciplinary consultancy in Portsmouth, working closely alongside another Principal Structural Engineer as part of a collaborative and high-performing team. You’ll take ownership of projects across a wide range of sectors, with the autonomy to make your mark and the support of an experienced peer and wider business.

What You’ll Be Doing:

🔹 Lead and manage structural engineering projects from concept through to completion

🔹 Work in tandem with another Principal Structural Engineer to share knowledge and workload

🔹 Provide technical leadership, supporting and mentoring junior engineers

🔹 Carry out full structural designs, calculations, and specifications in line with latest standards

🔹 Engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders both in the office and on site

🔹 Support tender submissions, feasibility studies, and structural surveys

🔹 Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements

🔹 Use BIM and 3D modelling software to drive efficient project delivery

What We’re Looking For:

✅ Degree qualified in Civil/Structural Engineering (BEng minimum)

✅ 5+ years’ experience in structural design across varied sectors and project sizes

✅ Incorporated or Chartered with IStructE (or actively working towards)

✅ Strong grasp of structural codes, building regs, and British Standards

✅ Skilled communicator with proven stakeholder management experience

✅ Confident with Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Autodesk, MicroStation

✅ Ability to take ownership of projects and lead a small team

✅ UK Driving Licence and flexibility to attend sites when needed

Desirable:

⭐ MEng or equivalent postgraduate qualification

⭐ Experience in BIM-led project delivery

⭐ Contract preparation and project management background

⭐ Existing (or ability to gain) UK Security Clearance
