We’re working with a growing multi-disciplinary design & build consultancy looking to appoint an experienced Key Account Manager to take ownership of several strategically important client relationships across complex and high-profile projects. This isn’t a traditional sales role and wouldn’t suit someone from a purely target-driven or transactional account management background. They’re looking for someone who can operate comfortably within a technical consultancy environment and genuinely understands how multi-disciplinary design and project delivery works.
The business operates across areas including Mechanical & Electrical Design, Civil & Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building Surveying and BIM, so candidates will ideally come from one of these sectors or have previous experience working closely within a similar design, construction or consultancy-led environment.
You’ll be focused on developing and strengthening long-term client relationships, coordinating with internal technical teams and ensuring projects and programmes continue to run smoothly and professionally.
The Role:
- Manage and develop a portfolio of key client accounts
- Act as the main relationship lead for strategic customers
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and decision makers
- Work closely with internal multi-disciplinary teams across design and delivery
- Support long-term account growth and identify further service opportunities
- Maintain oversight of project delivery, performance and client expectations
- Manage account risks, issues and escalation points where required
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual and operational requirements
- Support wider business development activity within existing accounts
What They’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a Key Account Manager, Client Manager or similar role
- Background within consultancy, design, engineering, construction or programme-led environments
- Understanding of the design & build process and multi-disciplinary project delivery
- Ideally exposure to disciplines such as M&E Design, Civil / Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building Surveying or BIM
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Commercial awareness with a relationship-led approach
- Able to operate professionally within regulated and security-conscious environments
What’s On Offer:
- £70,000 – £80,000 depending on experience, technical understanding and sector background
- Hybrid working with flexibility around client commitments
- Clear long-term progression opportunities
- Exposure to complex, high-profile programmes and projects
- Supportive environment with genuine autonomy and trust
Due to the nature of the work and potential security clearance requirements attached to some projects, applicants will need to be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. For further information or to apply, please submit your CV and we’ll be in touch to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
