We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our expanding, multi-disciplinary consultancy. Ideally, you will be able to attend our Portsmouth or Monmouth office at least once a week—but we are open to remote-based candidates across the UK, provided you can visit our Portsmouth office for onboarding and induction, and travel to client sites as needed. We also welcome candidates with transferable expertise from aviation, nuclear, or energy sectors, who bring strong technical knowledge and the ability to apply it within a building services environment.
What You Will Be Doing- Lead and deliver electrical design projects from concept through to completion.
- Ensure all designs comply with British Standards, legislation, and Building Regulations.
- Produce technical reviews, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Attend site visits, surveys, and project meetings, ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Collaborate with in-house mechanical, structural, CAD, and PM teams for seamless project outcomes.
- Contribute to tender submissions (PQQ/SQ/ITT) and project bids.
- Mentor junior engineers, supporting knowledge sharing and team development.
- HND/BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years' industry experience within building services, construction, or related engineering sectors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office 365, and ideally NBS Chorus.
- Excellent technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to obtain (or already hold) SC security clearance.
- Chartered status (CEng) or working towards it - IET or CIBSE.
- Familiarity with Revit, MagiCAD, Amtech, Dialux, BREEAM, or DREAM.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects.
- Transferable background in aviation, nuclear, or energy.
- Salary: £50,000 - £65,000, (open to discuss) depending on experience.
- Hybrid/flexible working with scope for remote arrangements (UK-based only).
