We’re working with a successful and growing, multi-disciplinary design & build consultancy in Portsmouth looking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer to play a key role within the business. This is a great opportunity for either an established Principal or a Senior Structural Engineer ready to step up. You’ll take ownership of projects, lead from a technical perspective and support the wider team across a varied and interesting workload. You’ll have plenty of autonomy, a strong level of trust and the backing of an established consultancy without unnecessary layers of red tape.
The Role
- Lead structural projects from concept through to completion
- Act as the key technical lead within the team
- Mentor and support junior engineers
- Deliver designs, calculations and technical documentation
- Manage client relationships and represent the business professionally
- Support tenders, surveys and feasibility work
- Ensure compliance with current standards and regulations
- Work with BIM / 3D modelling tools to deliver efficiently
What They’re Looking For
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Strong experience across structural design projects
- Chartered or working towards (IStructE)
- Good working knowledge of UK regulations and standards
- Confident dealing with clients and stakeholders
- Experience with software such as Revit, AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Able to run projects and take ownership
- Ability to gain Security Clearance
Nice to Have
- MEng or similar
- BIM experience
- Project/contract exposure
