We are looking for someone to champion our Ambassador Programme, finding new ways to reach blind and partially sighted people with the resources and services we offer. You would oversee the onboarding process for all volunteers and manage all volunteer processes, communications and recognition.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, train and assign tasks to volunteers.
- Research and implement new outreach or publicity avenues for the programme.
- Recruit and onboard Ambassadors from Torch Fellowship Groups and other sources.
- Design and deliver training; monitor feedback and improve the programme.
- Seek outreach opportunities such as care homes, attend in person as required.
- Act as line manager to Torch Ambassador volunteers.
- Work with the Church Partnership Coordinator to assign Ambassadors to events such as speaking engagements and exhibitions.
- Maintain volunteer records, onboarding checklists, training status, DBS checks and intranet logs; update the Volunteer Handbook and website.
- Implement system for annual renewal of Volunteer Partnership Agreements.
- Collect volunteer stories for newsletters and other communications.
- Prepare reports for leadership and assist line managers with volunteer onboarding.
- Enhance volunteer engagement via communication and recognition (e.g., update emails, oversee the Room to Reward scheme).
- Manage the dedicated volunteer email account volunteers@torchtrust.org.
- Contribute to the fellowship life of Torch through prayer meetings, coffee mornings and staff days.
- Assist in promotion of Torch through exhibitions, conferences and other agreed events.
- Participate in at least one annual in‑person event with Torch clients.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the CEO in line with the ministry’s aims.
Role Requirements
- Practising Christian with a clear commitment to Torch’s values.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience managing volunteers or staff is desirable.
- Proactive, independent and collaborative work style, with a can‑do attitude.
- Familiarity with MS Office, Google tools and willingness to learn new systems.

Contract and Working Pattern
- This is a permanent contract for 16 hours per week. Working pattern may include occasional evening and weekend hours to cover events.
- Location: Home based, hybrid or Torch House; some attendance at Torch House required. UK only.
- Position Type: Staff – Part Time, Band S4, £29,746 pro rata (full time 35 hours).
- Hours: 16 hours per week.
