Location Job Description
Torch Technologies is seeking a Scientist to support the Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) Human Machine Integrated Formations (HMIF) Project Office (PO).
The HMIF PO is responsible for developing two complex HMIF formations-one for an Armor Brigade Combat Team (BCT) and one for an Infantry BCT-within a 27-month timeframe. The Scientist will work closely with system users, requirements owners, and developmental contractors to translate operational needs into systems, hardware, and software requirements to support the prototyping of the HMIF formations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure HMIF working-level systems engineering success, investigates and advises management regarding feasibility of new projects, systems or approaches.
- Work with and support DOTmLPF-P stakeholders across the HMI enterprise.
- Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), by providing economic estimates and the basic research or testing concept for such new projects.
- Document, track, and maintain configuration management using Digital Environments (DE) and related engineering tools.
- Develop and decompose requirements from Mission Engineering through system-of-systems and system-level performance specifications.
- Identify, exploit, and mitigate risks, issues, and opportunities and recommends solutions to significant technical and economic problems based on general input from management.
- Plan, coordinate, schedule, direct, and control engineering and technical support activities for systems development and capability integration.
- Provide multi-disciplinary solution recommendations to resolve technical issues.
- Develop acquisition contract documentation, including Statements of Objective (SOO) and Statements of Work (SOW).
- Participate in the development and execution of test strategies.
- Lead and work with multi-functional/multi-disciplinary teams.
Job Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience applying scientific or engineering principles (fewer years will be considered based on experience complexity and success).
- Hands-on experience with hardware and software systems integration.
- Expertise in DoD acquisition processes, including systems engineering plans and performance-based specifications.
- Strong knowledge of engineering across multiple disciplines.
- Experience with Digital Engineering (DE) tools and configuration management.
- Experience in integration testing of systems of systems.
- Development experience for Statements of Objective, Statements of Work, and performance specifications.
- Experience in DoD acquisition programs (Army experience preferred).
- Ability to evaluate projects and determine cost-effective solutions that meet required specifications.
Desired Qualifications:
- Recent experience with military platforms, teleoperations, autonomy, EO/IR, and C4ISR systems.
- Familiarity with DoD 5000 acquisition lifecycle processes.
- Excellent communication and briefing skills for presenting complex topics to senior leadership.
