Clinical Technologist (Radiation Physics)
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint a Clinical Technologist to join our Clinical & Radiation Physics Team. We provide scientific and technical support to all users of ionising and non‑ionising radiation within the Medical Physics SEND network (south, east and north Devon).
This role involves quality assurance and acceptance testing of radiological equipment and the provision of a radiation protection service, as well as maintaining and enhancing medical physics services for both NHS and commercial customers.
Responsibilities
- Undertake equipment testing (QA) on complex systems and provide technical support.
- Manage radioisotope stock control and record keeping.
- Administer the personal dosimetry service and provide technical support.
- Coordinate the environmental monitoring programme.
- Calibrate complex radiation measurement equipment.
- Carry out audits of safe working practices.
- Perform radiation protection tasks including contamination monitoring and radioactive waste disposal.
- Provide basic radiation protection training.
- Supervise and/or train staff, students, and trainees within scope of practice.
