We are expanding our Revenues and Benefits team within our Finance Directorate and seeking multiple motivated and customer focused Revenue Officers to join our Local Government Revenue Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to develop a long term career in public sector finance and revenue administration.

As one of our Revenue Officers, you will play a key role in helping the council deliver fair, accurate, and efficient collection of local taxes and charges, supporting vital public services across the community.

We are looking for someone who is a clear communicator, both verbally and in writing. You will be organised and detail orientated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks. You will be professional and approachable, comfortable with numbers, have the ability to interpret regulations and guidance as well as confident using IT systems. If you would like to build a long term career in local government revenue services we would like to hear from you. Previous experience in revenues, debt recovery, customer services, or local government is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain accurate records relating to Council Tax, Business Rates (NNDR) including Business Improvement District debt and elements of the Local Council Tax Support scheme.
  • Process changes of address, liability adjustments, exemptions, reliefs, and discounts in accordance with legislation and council policy.
  • Handle customer enquiries via phone, email and correspondence by providing clear and professional advice.
  • Review accounts in arrears and take appropriate recovery action while maintaining a sensitive, customer centred approach.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, external agencies, and enforcement partners.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, regulation, and best practice in revenues administration.
  • Maintain strict data security and confidentiality standards.

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience of efficiently managing a diverse workload and responding effectively to conflicting deadlines, changing needs and priorities.
  • Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience of undertaking a wide range of administrative tasks, to a high standard.
  • Experience of producing accurate reports, letters, spreadsheets, presentations and other electronic documents.
