We are looking for an organised and customer focused Business Support Officer to join our Community Safety Team, providing maternity cover for 12 months. This is a key role supporting the Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) service, ensuring residents, partners and colleagues receive an efficient, professional and responsive service.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for ASB enquiries and provide high-quality administrative support.
- Undertake initial ASB casework administration, including triage, risk assessment and escalation when required.
- Liaise with complainants and partner agencies in a sensitive and professional manner.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, agendas and accurate minutes for meetings.
- Support and maintain specialist case management systems.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information, including complaints and information requests.
Qualifications
- Experience providing administrative support within a busy office environment.
- Confidence communicating with a wide range of people, including those who may be distressed or challenging.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office and digital systems.
- Proactive team player who can also work independently.
Desired
- Experience within community safety, local government or ASB services is desirable but not essential.
Skills (Essential)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a positive, warm and flexible approach.
- Persuasive, discreet, able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including high profile partners in the private and public sectors and senior representatives of the Council as well as members of the public.
- Ability to administer meetings with a particular focus on arranging and coordinating said meetings whilst producing accurate minutes, notes and action logs in a concise, efficient and timely manner.
- Effective ICT skills.
Knowledge (Essential)
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and associated programmes.
- Knowledge of the criteria for addressing Anti-Social Behaviour and Statutory Nuisance.
- In-depth knowledge of a range of specialist administrative and organisational procedures (e.g., production of minutes, notes and actions, reports, letters, presentations, travel arrangements and organisation of meetings and events).
Experience & Qualifications (Essential)
- Educated to GCSE Level standard or equivalent.
- Experience dealing with a range of enquiries both on the telephone and face to face.
- Experience providing high-level customer service and working with clients who may be challenging.
- Proven experience working in a busy office environment.
- Extensive experience using a range of PC-based information technology and computerised systems to a high level.
