Job Description & Person Specification

We are excited to share an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is committed to motivating and supporting our passenger assistants to join us as a Passenger Assistant Supervisor.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and delivering a high-quality passenger transport service. As Passenger Assistant Supervisor, you will:

  • Ensure that passenger assistants have completed all the necessary training to undertake their role.
  • Undertake supervision sessions, either individually or in groups.
  • Carry out planned observational visits on routes if required.
  • Safeguard the service users, along with others such as health and safety.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Experience of management and supervision, including dealing with complex staffing issues.
  • Experience of communicating with a wide range of people to deliver services.
  • Knowledge of health and safety and risk assessments.

Your work as a Passenger Assistant Supervisor will play a crucial role in improving outcomes for our young people. By working collaboratively with a wide range of teams, including home to school transport officers, the learning academy, and human resources, you will build on each other’s expertise to make a positive impact on the community.

This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Skills

  • Ability to manage and develop staff and to manage the performance of external contractors.
  • High standard of IT skills (competent with word processing, spreadsheets, complex databases and case recording systems).
  • Ability to write complex reports/ user guides etc clearly and concisely, pulling together information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation/regulations.
  • Effective communication/diplomacy skills.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of management and leadership practices.
  • Knowledge of health and safety and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of services delivered within Children’s Services.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of safeguarding children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Educated to A Level / Level 3 standard or relevant experience.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience of management and supervision, including dealing with complex staffing issues.
  • Proven experience of communicating with a wide range of people to deliver services.
  • Producing and presenting reports for wide ranging audience.
