Senior Healthcare Support Worker
As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, you will be working together as part of a multidisciplinary, professional team to assist the registered nurses and senior clinical staff in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care.
Responsibilities
- Observe, monitor and record all vital signs using the NEWS2 assessment tool.
- Provide personal care to patients to meet personal hygiene needs.
- Support patients with nutrition, feeding and assist with fluids.
- Support patients with comfort and emotional, social and physical needs.
- Empty catheter bags and record output accurately.
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse completing patient documentation.
- Participate in ward/unit meetings and encourage effective communication with multidisciplinary team members.
- Take part in team building/communication activities to develop a cohesive and supportive team.
- Take part in client and public involvement activities.
- Coordinate person-centred care and liaise with service users and relatives.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
- Record care contemporaneously in relevant documentation and update client IT systems when required.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
- Report incidents, accidents, or complaints in accordance with Trust policies.
Shift Work & Coverage
The post involves shift work including rotation to night duty and covers a 24/7 period covering bank holidays and weekends.
