We’ve partnered with a global leader in financial information services to source a Full Stack Developer (Java/React) to be an early leader for their collaborative teams in Manchester. This position is designed for an engineer with a strong background in Java primarily who has also coded across the frontend using React. The successful hire will also require strong experience with SQL and preferably some exposure / good understanding on Python code.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in the early stages of the build out of a tech delivery function in Manchester, to add to the existing offices in New York, Chicago and London.
What You’ll Do
- Technical Strategy: Being a part of a small team, helping to execute the software engineering strategy for full-stack applications, ensuring alignment with business roadmaps and priorities.
- Mentoring: Mentoring, and inspiring software engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Architecture & Design: Help with the design and development of applications using Java, React, to ensure robustness, scalability, and maintainability.
- Agile Delivery: Help to establish tools, standards, and ways of working that expedite Agile delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Enterprise Data and Architecture teams to ensure seamless delivery of software solutions.

This role requires substantial experience in large-scale, high-performance environments with a focus on full-stack excellence:
Required Skills and Experience
- Full-Stack Engineering Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise applications and modern web technologies in production environments.
- Software Engineering Fundamentals: Strong understanding of OOP concepts, design patterns, SOLID principles, algorithms, data structures, and ability to write clean, maintainable code.
- Backend Development: Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Maven, and Python (Pandas, FastAPI, Flask) for building enterprise applications, data processing, and API development.
- Database Technologies: Hands-on experience with RDBMS databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
- DevOps & Cloud: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes (K8s), shell scripting (Bash) for automation, and AWS cloud platform.
- Effective communication and teamwork: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Location/Office Presence
You’ll work in their brand new Manchester offices in the central business district of the city. Tech personnel are required to be present in the office at least two days per week, with the remainder of the week being remote.
