We are currently recruiting for a Shunter Driver to join our transport team on a permanent basis. The role reports to the Transport Nights Supervisor and provides vital distribution support to Topps Tiles.
The Role- Ensure trailers are legally compliant and to the correct standard for use, positioning the equipment on and off trailer bays as required to ensure the yard area is maintained in a clean, safe and organised condition.
- Liaise with warehouse/transport personnel to ensure the correct equipment is positioned on and off the trailer bays, ensuring the flow is maintained, informing the Transport supervisors when equipment shortage will affect loading.
- Complete a preloading check prior to putting the trailer on a bay, including defects, service and MOT requirements.
- Carry out full yard checks and complete all required documentation.
- Direct incoming equipment and vehicles to the correct parking/loading areas.
- Continue to drive all current VOR process.
- Assist with any yard/trailer related queries.
- Assist with the opening and closing of curtains, and strapping down of pallets on the trailers.
- Must possess a C+E license and a digital Tachograph Card.
- Must have experience of driving commercial vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with all current operational policies and procedures are met.
- Ensure all Road Transport legislation and regulations are complied with.
- Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
- Operate in a safe manner and adhere to all health and safety guidelines at all times.
- Focuses on delivering and exceeding expected standards and performance.
- Must be willing to work as part of a team.
