About the Role
*This role is offered on a 6 MONTHS FTC.*
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant Assistant to support the Senior Financial Accountants and assist with month-end. The Financial Accounting team takes responsibility for the running of the Company’s financial accounting function, property accounting, fixed assets, statutory reporting, group accounting, tax and treasury.
The Role
- Work with the Senior Financial Accountants and the rest of the finance team to ensure that key aspects of the Company’s financial accounting processes are appropriately administered and information is available in a timely fashion.
- Support the insurance renewal processes.
- Manage and execute all daily and monthly treasury operations.
- Prepare and post the monthly payroll journal ensuring accuracy and timely reflection in the general ledger.
- Manage the allocation and recharge of payroll costs to appropriate entities within the group.
- Prepare and submit the pay as you earn settlement agreement (PSA) ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Complete all necessary regulatory submissions related to goods entering Northern Ireland.
- Handle monthly management accounting responsibilities.
- Prepare the monthly balance sheet accounts and ensure all key balance sheet control accounts are reconciled and approved on a monthly basis.
- Ensure the Senior Financial Accountants and Financial Controller are well appraised of the Company’s financial position and support with other ad-hoc tasks.
- Ensure appropriate processes exist within the finance team to identify key areas of risk and agree with the Senior Financial Accountants appropriate plans to manage those risks.
- Work with auditors and external parties to ensure that core accounting controls are appropriate and consistently implemented.
The Person
Essential
- Part-qualified accountant.
- Interested in technical accounting and a desire to develop in this area.
- Good communication skills on both a one-to-one basis and in a group environment.
- Keen to broaden skillset in the other areas of responsibility of the wider Financial Accounting team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the use of Pivot Tables and formulas such as VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP and SUMIF.
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Dynamics.
- Experience of liaising with external providers such as banks and auditors.
- Good working knowledge of accounting systems and monthly accounts process – general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, monthly accounts process, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting.
