The Role
We are looking for a Social Media and Content Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of social media activity across a number of client accounts.
The role includes managing channels, developing content calendars, writing captions and social copy, publishing content, community management and reporting. You will also help develop content ideas, write briefs for creative teams and advise clients and colleagues on how to improve their social media activity.
This is a hands-on role. You will be expected to manage work from planning through to publication, keep activity moving and maintain a high standard across everything that goes out.
What You'll Do
- Managing client social media channels on a day-to-day basis.
- Developing and maintaining content calendars and publishing schedules.
- Writing captions, social copy and other short-form content.
- Scheduling, checking and publishing content across relevant platforms.
- Developing content ideas around client priorities, campaigns and current events.
- Creating and adapting straightforward social content using existing footage, imagery, templates and brand assets.
- Writing briefs for designers, video editors, filmmakers and other creative specialists.
- Repurposing existing material for use across different social platforms.
- Monitoring comments, messages, mentions and relevant online conversations.
- Managing community responses and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Supporting live and fast-moving social media activity when required.
- Advising clients and internal teams on content, publishing and channel management.
- Contributing to social media plans and campaign recommendations.
- Reviewing performance and identifying ways to improve future content.
- Preparing straightforward reporting where required.
- Working closely with account, creative, editorial, strategy and paid media teams.
- Making sure content is accurate, on-brand and delivered on time.
- Identifying emerging opportunities, risks and issues across client channels
- Assisting on video shoots, capturing content
Requirements
You will have experience managing social media channels for an agency, brand, organisation or campaign.
You will be a strong writer, able to produce clear and engaging content in different tones of voice. You should be comfortable managing content calendars, publishing directly to social platforms, briefing creative work and handling online communities.
You will also need:
- A good understanding of the main social media platforms.
- Strong judgement about what makes effective social content.
- Good organisational skills and close attention to detail.
- The ability to manage several priorities and deadlines at once.
- Confidence working with clients and internal teams.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery.
- A practical and collaborative approach.
Experience in an agency, communications, public affairs, government, politics or another issues-led environment would be useful, but is not essential.
