Technical Lead - Engineering & Feature Experimentation

TopFlight is an engineering consultancy specialising in accelerating experimentation and levelling up technical maturity within product teams. We are entering an exciting new phase using cutting‑edge agent technology to accelerate innovation and we’re expanding our specialist feature experimentation engineering practice serving mid‑to‑large organisations across the UK and beyond. We help ambitious product organisations increase A/B test velocity, implement robust feature and experimentation workflows (including CI/CD). Our work has generated over £20m in additional revenue for clients through high‑velocity experimentation. This role is foundational to continued growth.

The Opportunity:

We are hiring a Technical Lead to act as a technical authority across our client accounts and help shape TopFlight’s next stage. This role includes:

• Hands‑on engineering leadership across our speed‑to‑market vertical
• Client‑facing technical experimentation strategy
• Evolve into a close collaboration with the founder to shape technical direction.
• Technical consulting

Initially, you will spend time embedded within our client accounts working hands‑on. As the practice grows, your role will evolve toward technical strategy, client leadership, and shaping our experimentation “centre of excellence”. This is a high‑autonomy, high‑impact position with a clear pathway towards leadership as TopFlight scales.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Acting as a technical authority across feature experimentation engagements.
• Designing and implementing feature flag and experimentation platform architectures.
• Reviewing and improving CI/CD pipelines to increase deployment and testing velocity.
• Leading technical discovery sessions for new clients.
• Supporting pre‑sales conversations alongside the founder (technical strategy).
• Defining governance and best practices for experimentation at scale.
• Contributing to internal innovation initiatives, including AI‑assisted experimentation tooling.

What We’re Looking For

• Excellent communication skills and able to translate complex technical systems into clear business language
• 5+ years working in modern full‑stack environments (e.g. React/Vue, Node, cloud‑native infrastructure)
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release management, and production systems
• Experience operating in enterprise or scale‑up environments
• Comfortable consulting directly with senior stakeholders
• Comfortable operating in a fast‑moving consultancy environment with high autonomy
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development workflows

Bonus

• Experience working with experimentation platforms (e.g. Statsig, Optimizely, Kameleoon etc)
• Experience implementing or managing feature flag systems
