Consultant Histopathologist – Gynaecological Histology Location: East Sussex, UK
We are recruiting for a Consultant Histopathologist to join an established NHS Cellular Pathology department in East Sussex, working across acute hospital sites in Hastings and Eastbourne.
The role offers a specialist focus in gynaecological histology, alongside the opportunity to take on the role of Lead Histopathologist for Cervical Screening Histology.
You will join a UKAS-accredited Cellular Pathology department processing approximately 29,000 surgical cases per year, with an established double-reporting system for cancer cases and active involvement in cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality consultant-level histopathology services.
- Develop and contribute to the department's gynaecological histology service.
- Undertake the role of Lead Histopathologist for Cervical Screening Histology.
- Participate in cancer MDTs and multidisciplinary working.
- Contribute to the established double-reporting system for cancer cases.
- Support the delivery and ongoing development of the Cellular Pathology service.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the two acute hospital sites.
- Candidate Requirements
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register.
- We are particularly interested in candidates holding one of the following:
- CCT – Certificate of Completion of Training
- CCST – Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training
- CESR – Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration
Candidates should have appropriate experience and/or specialist interest in gynaecological histology.
