About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Worker to work on a 2:1 basis supporting a child in central Rochdale. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for sports, physical activity, and child development, who can positively engage and motivate a young person through structured and active support. This is initially a part-time position (Tuesday and Thursday afternoons), with a strong possibility of additional hours becoming available over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, high-quality 2:1 support tailored to the child's individual needs
  • Engage the child in sports and physical activities to support wellbeing and development
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and social skills
  • Work collaboratively with family and professionals where required
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience working with children or young people in a support role
  • A strong interest in or background in sports, coaching, or physical activity
  • Ability to build trusting, positive relationships
  • Reliable, patient, and proactive approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child‑centred practice

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs
  • Coaching qualifications or background in sports development
  • Relevant training (e.g. behaviour support, safeguarding)
