We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our children’s residential service in Rochdale, supporting a young person in a nurturing, structured environment. You will work closely with families and multi-disciplinary professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the young person. The role involves a combination of hands-on support and administrative responsibilities, requiring strong communication skills, resilience and a proactive approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the young person with daily living activities, promoting independence and confidence
  • Develop and implement tailored care plans to meet individual needs
  • Provide support during educational, recreational, and social activities
  • Transport the young person to school, appointments, and activities as required
  • Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and daily logs in line with organisational policies
  • Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and external professionals
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and nurturing home environment
  • Utilise IT systems for documentation, reporting, and communication
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and promote the welfare of the young person at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 22 years (in line with Ofsted regulations)
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years experience in residential childcare supporting young people
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
