We are seeking an experienced part‑time tutor to provide Functional Skills English and Maths to a secondary‑age learner in a community‑based setting. This role would suit a qualified teacher who is confident delivering individualised tuition and supporting young people with additional needs.

Role Purpose

To deliver high‑quality Functional Skills English and Maths tuition to a secondary‑age pupil, tailoring learning to meet individual needs and support progress and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Functional Skills English and Maths sessions on a one‑to‑one basis
  • Plan and adapt sessions to suit the learner's needs and abilities
  • Create a calm, supportive, and consistent learning environment
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback as required
  • Work collaboratively with parents and professionals where appropriate

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience of delivering Functional Skills English and Maths
  • Experience working with secondary‑age pupils
  • Experience supporting learners with ASC
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills

Hours & Availability

  • 10 hours per week
  • Sessions to take place across Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Delivery required between 11:00am and 4:00pm
  • Ability to spread hours across the available days is essential
