Following years of growth, our client is seeking an experienced Transport Planner based in Portsmouth for a transport logistics business. You will be working as part of a busy transport team and will be responsible for completing and overseeing the day-to-day planning function of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a quick and fast-paced environment and be able to deal with day-to-day challenges in providing an effective transport plan.
SALARY: £33,000
HOURS: Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm
OTHER BENEFITS: Pension, generous annual leave allowance, free parking
Job responsibilities:
- Work with Transport teams to create an efficient transport plan using the latest portal
- Ensure that vehicles due for planned maintenance/inspection/refurbishment etc. are routed to meet scheduled dates and business requirements
- Subcontracting and planning orders from multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK
- Planning daily workload of fleet: vehicles based on site
- Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that may arise
- Planning approx. 100 collections per day on a time-critical basis
- Maintaining and exceeding agreed KPIs
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business particularly at peak periods during the year
Skills Required:
- You should be able to comfortably organise your own workload and will be able to work in a pressurised environment to meet key deadlines
- You should be PC literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word in particular
- You must also have at least 2 years experience in a transport and logistics environment
- As the successful candidate, you will be able to work on your own initiative, with the willingness to resolve complex issues
