Toolstation, part of the Travis Perkins Group—an industry leader in health and safety—is seeking an experienced, engaging, and analytical HSE Improvement Specialist to join our team. While you\’ll be joining the Toolstation family, you\’ll also be part of a wider 30-strong HSE team within Travis Perkins, offering excellent opportunities to develop your skills, knowledge, and experience.

What you’ll do:

This field-based role offers the chance to make a real impact by driving continuous improvement across our business. Reporting directly to the Head of HSE, you\’ll be at the forefront of enhancing safety standards and reducing risks through targeted projects. This role emphasizes proactive measures—identifying systemic trends and implementing solutions that address root causes of issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with distribution centres to reduce risks and incident rates, and understanding performance impacts to drive improvements

  • Partnering with retail stores on issues such as safe product storage, handling, and manual handling risk reduction

  • Analyzing incident data to identify systemic trends, patterns, and developing effective interventions

This role is highly colleague-focused. You\’ll be visiting sites, engaging with colleagues to understand their concerns, and fostering collaboration. Success depends on consulting, engaging, sharing, and working together.

What you\’ll bring

We\’re seeking a current HSE Business Partner or Manager ready for a new challenge. You should demonstrate:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, HSE Diploma, or equivalent

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • At least 24 months post-qualification experience in a medium-risk business as an HSE Manager or similar role

  • Proven experience in safety culture and behavioural change programs

  • Excellent communication skills with confidence to challenge positively

  • Good time management skills

  • Strong understanding of legal and technical aspects of H&S relevant to Retail and Distribution Centres

  • Experience in a distribution environment and in a multi-site, fast-paced business is highly advantageous
