As a Digital Merchandiser, you will be instrumental in driving digital performance by optimising our online product presentation, navigation, and search functionality. Using data insights, you will improve product discoverability and the overall customer experience. You will work closely with the Digital Merchandising Manager and collaborate across digital teams to implement strategic changes, contributing to improved customer journeys, conversion, and the delivery of category sales targets.
Day to day:
- Support the execution of the digital merchandising strategy to contribute to sales growth and enhanced customer experience.
- Optimise product presentation, navigation, on‑site search, and product hierarchy to boost discoverability and conversion.
- Analyse website data, customer behaviour, and category sales performance to identify opportunities and implement improvements.
- Continuously improve product listing quality, ensuring content, imagery, and categorisation meet agreed standards and drive conversion.
- Take responsibility for category site performance, analysing trading conditions, and taking actions to optimise conversion and support key financial metrics.
- Manage two junior merchandisers, providing guidance, coaching and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including UX/UI, data analytics, campaigns, and commercial teams, to deliver site improvements.
- Proactively identify and resolve live‑site issues, prioritising fixes based on customer impact and trading performance.
- Support the execution and on‑site implementation of A/B tests, using outcomes to inform improvements across mobile and web.
- Deputise for the Digital Merchandising Manager when required, supporting daily priorities and projects.
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in digital merchandising or e‑commerce trading, ideally within a fast‑paced retail environment.
- Proven experience in on‑site merchandising, including product placement, category management, and the optimisation of navigation and search.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to interpret trading performance and take data‑led actions to improve conversion.
- Experience using merchandising and analytics tools for optimisation and reporting.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple workstreams efficiently.
- A collaborative mindset, with experience working cross‑functionally with wider digital teams.
- Experience in people management is preferred, but not essential.
- Analytical: ability to interpret data and make timely, considered recommendations.
- Customer‑centric: passionate about the Toolstation customer experience and committed to delivering a high quality of service.
- Detail‑orientated: thorough and accurate in all areas of work, making few if any errors.
