Our client is seeking an experienced Chef / Assistant Catering Manager to join a friendly café team in North Leeds. A full‑time role, working days from Wednesday to Sunday, 08.00 to 16.00hrs.
As Chef / Assistant Catering Manager, you will be passionate about producing delicious, well‑presented food and ensuring a safe, welcoming experience for all visitors. You will help manage the day‑to‑day operation of the café, ensuring consistent, professional service and a warm, welcoming environment for customers, staff and a pool of wonderful volunteers.
My client is looking for a Chef with a genuine passion for food and service, who will contribute to the development and delivery of seasonal menus featuring healthy, appetising dishes, incorporating local produce and fresh produce from the kitchen garden. You will also prepare a daily selection of homemade cakes, scones, and traybakes, working collaboratively with the kitchen team.
Person Specification- Experience: Varied experience in the food service industry, including food preparation, ordering, budgeting, and stock control.
- Knowledge: Up‑to‑date knowledge of food hygiene and allergens. Strong food preparation, cooking, and presentation skills suited to a healthy café environment. Familiarity with Food Standards Agency requirements, including Safer Food Better Business for Caterers.
- Skills: Passionate about food. Customer‑focused with excellent communication skills. Strong team player. Creative, proactive and well‑organised.
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 08.00 to 16.00 Wednesday to Sunday, including Bank Holidays.
- Holidays: 25 days plus Bank Holidays (increasing with long service).
- Pension: Auto‑enrolment scheme with employer matching up to 7%.
