Tony Gee and Partners are seeking an experienced Associate or Principal Engineer who is authorised to act as Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) to strengthen our growing Transmission & Distribution capability. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in delivering innovative civil design solutions for National Grid and SSEN projects, supporting schemes from early feasibility assessments through to commissioning.
Working as part of our multi‑disciplinary design teams across the UK and occasionally internationally, you’ll help shape how we collaborate with clients and contractors, driving best practice across the industry and contributing to the continued growth of our power sector offering.
Responsibilities- Providing CDAE support and guidance across a portfolio of Transmission & Distribution civil design projects
- Working in close collaboration with engineers from multiple disciplines to deliver coordinated, high‑quality design solutions
- Ensuring designs meet National Grid, SSEN, and industry standards from concept through to delivery
- Positively influencing project outcomes and helping evolve our internal processes and approach to client engagement
- Proven experience acting as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) on National Grid projects
- Strong civil/structural design proficiency using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D
- Relevant experience within the Electricity Transmission & Distribution sector
- Ability to lead civil engineering workstreams across foundations, earthworks, drainage, buildings, and steelwork
- Competence in producing high‑quality calculations, reports, and drawings aligned with client technical standards
- A collaborative approach with the ability to mentor colleagues and support the wider team
- A willingness to challenge assumptions, adapt to evolving project requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement
- Experience supporting bid development, tender submissions, and deploying innovative solutions on projects
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (CEng MICE, or MIStructE).
- Civil/Structural or construction related degree required
