Role Summary

The Senior Manager – Internal Communications leads the delivery of internal communications across TBI, ensuring colleagues globally are informed, engaged and aligned to the Institute’s mission, strategy and values. While the role plays a critical part in shaping and delivering communications across the Institute on a day-to-day basis and during periods of organisational transformation and change, we are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with exceptional delivery — shaping leadership communication, driving engagement and building stronger two-way dialogue across a fast-moving, international organisation.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in senior environments, influencing leaders constructively and creating compelling, modern communications that resonate across cultures, generations and regions. This is a standalone role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. Approximately 85% of the role is focused on delivery and creating high-quality content, campaigns and engagement initiatives directly, rather than purely strategic oversight.

The role works closely with the Chief People & Strategy Officer, senior leadership, People Business Partners, Strategy teams and the Global Strategic Communications function.

Key responsibilities

  • Internal Communications Strategy & Delivery
    • Lead and deliver internal communications across TBI, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment with organisational priorities.
    • Build and manage an annual internal communications calendar aligned to strategic priorities, leadership updates and people initiatives.
    • Create engaging internal campaigns, leadership messaging, presentations, newsletters and communication materials directly.
    • Translate complex organisational priorities into clear, accessible and engaging communications.
    • Identify communication gaps and opportunities proactively and recommend practical improvements.
  • Leadership Communication & Engagement
    • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on internal communication and engagement.
    • Help leaders communicate with greater clarity, authenticity and impact.
    • Build stronger two-way dialogue and employee listening approaches across the organisation.
    • Support leadership communication during periods of transformation, change and organisational growth.
  • Storytelling & Culture
    • Develop compelling and modern storytelling approaches that bring TBI’s mission, strategy and values to life internally.
    • Create communications that resonate across diverse global audiences and cultures.
    • Bring greater creativity, energy and vibrancy into internal communications where appropriate while maintaining credibility and professionalism.
    • Ensure communications feel human, engaging and relevant rather than purely corporate or process-driven.
  • Change & Transformation Communications
    • Lead communications relating to organisational transformation, structural change and people initiatives.
    • Partner with People and Strategy teams to support workforce planning, mobility, wellbeing and organisational design initiatives.
    • Develop communication approaches that build trust, understanding and engagement during periods of change.
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement
    • Monitor engagement metrics and employee feedback to assess communication effectiveness.
    • Use data and insights to continuously improve channels, messaging and engagement approaches.
    • Simplify and modernise internal communication practices where needed.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:

  • Strong experience in internal communications, employee engagement, culture or change communications.
  • Experience operating in complex, global or fast-moving organisations.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling capability across multiple formats and audiences.
  • Strong editorial instinct and the ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Confidence influencing and constructively challenging senior stakeholders.
  • Experience creating modern, engaging and audience-focused communications.
  • A highly collaborative and proactive working style.
  • Comfort operating in a standalone, high-ownership role.
  • Strong understanding of digital communication channels, engagement metrics and audience behaviours.

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK to apply for this role. We reserve the right to close this role early if we receive a sufficient number of applications.
