Our intuitive, screen‑free system empowers children to learn and play independently in a safe and engaging way. With a presence in over 100 countries and a diverse portfolio of ~1,400 Tonies across multiple languages, we continue to redefine how children experience storytelling and learning. Since our IPO in 2021, our global team of 550+ colleagues is united by a shared mission: shaping the future of play, learning, and imagination.

You as part of tonies

At tonies, everything revolves around stories—they are at the heart of what we do. However, our success isn't just based on technology and creative ideas, but primarily on the passionate people who bring these stories to life every day. To ensure we continue to grow healthily, we are looking for you as a People Operations Manager. In this role, you are the organizational backbone of our People & Culture team. You pull the strings behind the scenes, ensure clean data, and optimise the systems and processes that enable our global team to perform at their best. This role is pivotal in maintaining our standards in the UK while building out our People Operations processes from the ground up in France, Australia, and New Zealand. You will be a key player in a global team, collaborating closely with colleagues based in the US and Germany to ensure a seamless employee experience across our growing international footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Employee Lifecycle Management: You ensure a first‑class experience for our employees in the UK, France, Australia and New Zealand. You manage all administrative steps—from the initial contract and changes during their career to appreciative offboarding and the creation of reference letters for our tonies.
  • Payroll & Benefits: You have a handle on the numbers. You maintain all salary and benefit data and work hand‑in‑hand with our external partners for preparatory payroll accounting. Your goal: 100% accuracy and punctuality.
  • Onboarding Support: You share responsibility for a perfect start at tonies. You coordinate our Buddy Program and newcomer meetings to ensure new “Tonies” feel welcome from day one.
  • HR Systems & Data Quality: As a “power user” for our HRIS (Personio), you ensure our digital personnel files are always up‑to‑date and comply with all legal requirements. Familiarity with Notion is a plus.
  • Processes & Innovation: You have a drive to make things better. You challenge existing workflows, reduce manual effort, and leverage the potential of automation and AI to make our work more efficient.
  • Knowledge Management: You make sure important information is easy to find. You expand our self‑service resources so the team can find answers to HR questions quickly and independently.
  • Building & Ownership: Support our already‑established UK processes and own the development of our People Operations function across our growing France, Australia and New Zealand markets.

What we are looking for

  • HR Background: You bring solid experience in HR administration and are well‑versed in employment and labor law in the UK and France.
  • Payroll Proficiency: Terms like social security and company pension schemes are not foreign to you; you know what matters in payroll accounting.
  • Passion for Tech & Tools: You enjoy working with modern HR systems. If you already know Personio, that’s great—otherwise, you are a quick learner when it comes to new tools.
  • Process Optimisation: You are passionate about ensuring our processes run smoothly and efficiently. If you spot a process that could be improved upon, you don’t shy away from finding a more efficient way of doing it.
  • Structure & Composure: Even when things get busy, you are able to prioritise multiple responsibilities. You work very conscientiously and manage to juggle different tasks and deadlines with ease.
  • Empathy & Service Mindset: You see yourself as an internal service provider and enjoy supporting our colleagues with competence and care while also maintaining the ability to push back when necessary to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
  • Problem-Solver Mentality: You don’t wait for things to happen; you tackle topics proactively and enjoy constantly developing processes.
  • Communication: Since we work internationally, you communicate confidently in both French and English.

Benefits

  • Global Teamwork: We collaborate across departmental and country borders. You’ll be part of a truly international community where every voice is heard.
  • Come as you are: This applies to the dress code and everything else. We believe you give your best when you feel truly comfortable being yourself.
  • Competitive Package: We offer a competitive salary and a range of comprehensive benefits tailored to your specific location, which we’ll share during the recruiting process.
  • Collaboration & Community: We’re big on “we.” You’ll join a team that values connection and celebrates wins together, no matter the time zone.
  • Continuous Learning: Benefit from internal/external training and an individual learning budget to keep your skills as sharp as a Tonie’s ears.
  • Tonie Discounts: Enjoy attractive discounts on our entire range of products. You’ll quickly become the favorite guest at every birthday party!
  • Rest & Recharge: Great work requires a clear head. You’ll enjoy generous paid time off to ensure you have plenty of time for your own stories.

Inclusion & Diversity

We actively celebrate our colleagues’ different abilities, ethnicities, faith and gender. Everyone is welcome and supported in their development at all stages in their journey with us.
