About tonies: tonies is the world’s leading interactive audio platform for children, with over 10 million Tonieboxes and 125 million Tonies sold globally. Our intuitive, screen‑free system empowers children to learn and play independently in a safe and engaging way. With a presence in over 100 countries and a diverse portfolio of 1,400 Tonies across multiple languages, we continue to redefine how children experience storytelling and learning. Since our IPO in 2021, our global team of 550+ colleagues is united by a shared mission: shaping the future of play, learning, and imagination.
You as part of tonies: We are seeking a transformational leader to join tonies as Director, Global Enterprise Applications. Reporting directly to the CIO, you will be instrumental in reshaping our technology landscape, scaling our capabilities globally, and driving the successful migration from Microsoft Business Central to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. This is a career‑defining opportunity to build a modern, high‑performing global application function from the ground up and influence how our technology supports growth, scalability, and operational excellence.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead the SAP S/4HANA Transformation: Own the successful execution, deployment, and post‑go‑live support of our global ERP implementation, standardizing processes across all legal entities.
- Build a Global Application Function: Establish the organizational structure, talent, and sustainable operating model for a world‑class, global Enterprise Applications department, balancing internal capabilities with external expertise.
- Define and Execute the Application Strategy: Develop the roadmap for our core business applications, including our CRM platforms potentially, ensuring they align with our expansion and new product initiatives.
- Drive Commercial Integration: Ensure seamless, robust, and scalable integration between the core ERP system and our customer‑facing systems, particularly our Global E‑Commerce Platform, to enable aggressive sales expansion.
- Professionalize Operations through Partnership: Build and implement pragmatic governance and support structures that enable operational excellence and stability while acting as a trusted, enabling partner to the business, overseeing system lifecycle management, managing vendor relationships including SAP and key implementation partners, driving process standardization across Finance, Supply Chain, and Sales, and taking responsibility for related budget planning.
What we are looking for:
- Builder‑Leader track record: Proven experience building and leading an Enterprise Applications function within a startup or scale‑up (or similar mid‑market) environment.
- International Experience: You have a proven track record of managing globally distributed models and possess the cultural agility required to lead critical projects across diverse geographies.
- Proven ERP Transformation Success: Extensive, hands‑on experience leading large‑scale ERP and CRM implementations/migrations ($300M+ organizations), with a strong preference for SAP S/4HANA Cloud or comparable modern ERP systems.
- Enabling Leadership: Experience building support models and processes that balance agility and business needs with the need for security and operational stability, moving the organisation toward best practices.
- Business Acumen: Deep understanding of the core processes in a consumer electronics/media business (e.g., Order‑to‑Cash, Procure‑to‑Pay, Record‑to‑Report).
- Excellent Communication: A track record of successfully influencing and communicating complex technical and organisational topics to the C‑suite and business stakeholders.
Location: Candidates must be currently based in Germany (Düsseldorf / Berlin) or the UK (London) and open to a hybrid work policy with minimum 30% in‑office presence/travel monthly.
You might NOT be a great fit if:
- You prefer being the "Visiting Architect" over the "Head of the Household": We’re looking for a long‑term owner. If your recent history is mostly interim projects, external consulting, or "hitting the ground running and handing over the keys," you might miss the deep accountability of living in the "house" you’re building for the next 3‑5 years.
- Your DNA is "Pure Tech or Product" rather than "Business Technology": If you speak mainly in SRE, DevOps, and Product Engineering but find terms like Order‑to‑Cash, Consolidation, or Procure‑to‑Pay a bit dry, this won't be the right match. We need a "General Manager" of applications who treats the ERP as the heart of our global business operations, not just another software project.
- You’re a "Big Corporate" Specialist: If you’re used to having massive, specialised teams for every sub‑task, our agile, scale‑up pace (600 employees) might feel jarring. We need someone who has thrived where you have to build the ladder while you’re climbing it.
- Your world is siloed - either by geography or by function: We are a public company with an international footprint. If your experience is limited to a single domestic market, or if you’ve only seen "one slice of the pie" (e.g., only Architecture, only Project Management, or only Finance ERP), this might not be the right stage. We need a holistic "General Manager" of applications who can bridge the gap between technical ERP nuts‑and‑bolts, global legal jurisdictions, and overall business strategy without losing their breath.
Why tonies?
- Global Teamwork: We collaborate across departmental and country borders on our vision to bring the Toniebox into every child's room in the world.
- Come as you are: This applies not only to the dress code but also to everything else. Because only where you truly feel comfortable can you give your best.
- Mobility: Choose the option that suits you best – a Deutschlandticket (public transport ticket) for unlimited mobility, a monthly contribution for an office parking space, a leasing bicycle, or a remote work subsidy.
- Enhanced Security: Benefit from subsidies for company pension plans, occupational pension schemes, and occupational disability insurance.
- Rest & Time Off: Enjoy 30 days of paid annual leave as well as three additional days off such as Rosenmontag, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve. After one year of employment, you can also use up to 10 "toniecation days" (unpaid leave days).
- Continuous Learning: Benefit from our internal and external training opportunities as well as an individual learning budget to continuously expand your knowledge.
- Language Learning & Relaxation: Improve your communication skills with the language learning app Babbel and find relaxation through our access to the meditation app Calm.
- Discounts: Benefit from attractive discounts on our entire range of tonies products.
