We are looking for an enthusiastic and well motivated Senior Building Control Surveyor / Registered Building Inspector to join the Council's Building Control Team. You have the opportunity to join an effective and pro‑active team of friendly but dedicated professionals to ensure the continuation of an excellent Building Control Service. Tonbridge & Malling comprises a mix of residential and commercial developments within an area of some 93 square miles with a population of approximately 134,000.
Responsibilities
- Carry out plan assessments for compliance with the Building Regulations.
- Undertake consultation with statutory bodies.
- Issue decisions within statutory timescales.
- Conduct site inspections and complete suitable site inspection notes.
- Assess demolitions and dangerous structures.
- Provide periodic out of hours cover on a rota basis.
Qualifications
- Registered to Class 2A as a minimum; ideally member of CABE, RICS or CIOB.
- Current full UK driving licence and daily access to a car for business purposes (expenses and car allowance will be paid).
- Good communication skills, high level of literacy and numeracy, and appropriate IT skills.
- Committed to delivering a quality customer‑focused service in a competitive environment.
- Ability to make clear and accurate decisions at short notice and under pressure.
