As a Field Service Engineer, you will join a collaborative team responsible for delivering field service activities across the UK and Ireland. This role covers commissioning, operation, testing, integration, optimisation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. It also includes participating in an on‑call rota to provide technical phone support and responding on‑site to equipment‑ and customer‑related issues.
You will prepare clear and detailed field service reports following each installation or technical intervention, helping to support the wider organisation. You will also work closely with Sales and Project Management teams and deliver on‑site training to customer maintenance and service teams, as well as to fellow Field Service Engineers.
Key responsibilities include:- Carrying out field service activities such as commissioning, operation, testing, integration, optimisation, maintenance, and repair of optical sorters and post‑harvest equipment using laser, X‑ray, and camera technologies across the UK and Ireland.
- Providing on‑call technical phone support and responding on‑site to equipment‑ and customer‑related issues.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and system‑level issues.
- Preparing accurate and detailed field service reports after each installation or technical intervention.
- Supporting Sales and Project Management teams when required.
- Delivering on‑site training to customer maintenance and service personnel, as well as to Technical Service and Support (TSS) Service Engineers.
- Following all safety requirements and company procedures during site visits.
- Keeping product knowledge and technical expertise up to date.
- Collaborating with internal teams, including engineering, sales, and customer project support, to ensure a positive customer experience.
- A Level 3 qualification in electrical or electronic engineering is required (for example, BTEC National Diploma, HND/HNC, NVQ, or an equivalent qualification).
- Experience as a multi‑skilled technician with electrical or electronic expertise.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical power circuits and PLC circuits is an advantage.
- Understanding of computer hardware and system configurations is a plus.
- Ability to build and maintain positive, effective working relationships with customers, internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
- Clear and confident communication skills in English; additional language skills are an advantage.
