Company Description

TOMRA is a global leader in recycling and circular economy solutions. Founded in 1972, we design and deliver technology that helps keep valuable materials in circulation and reduces waste worldwide. With over 5,500 employees globally and operations in 60+ markets, TOMRA is now entering a major growth phase in the UK ahead of the planned Deposit Return Scheme launch in 2027. This is a unique opportunity to join the UK organisation as it scales and help build the teams that will support the next generation of recycling infrastructure.

Job Description

As a Field Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting TOMRA’s mission to transform the way the world recycles—while always putting safety first. Whether working with equipment, customers, or travelling between sites, you’ll operate in a safety-focused environment where the wellbeing of our people and customers is a top priority. You’ll help keep our technology running smoothly by maintaining, repairing, and optimising equipment at customer sites. This is a hands-on, early-career role with a mix of planned and reactive work, offering variety, autonomy, and strong opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive team environment. You’ll be a key part of delivering a great customer experience while building your technical expertise.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, maintain, and repair TOMRA reverse vending machines (RVMs) at customer locations
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, with support from experienced colleagues when needed
  • Carry out both preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to ensure equipment uptime
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machines following training
  • Build positive relationships with customers, acting as a trusted and friendly face of TOMRA
  • Work closely with retailers and site contacts to ensure a smooth and professional service experience
  • Travel regularly within your region, with occasional overnight stays and visits to service hubs
  • Accurately record work, service updates, and machine status using digital tools and systems (IFS)
  • Keep your van stock and equipment organised and ready for use
  • Share feedback and ideas to help improve our products and processes
  • Stay up to date with TOMRA’s technology and continuously develop your skills

Ways of Working

This role involves a rotating schedule (rota-based), with flexibility as the team grows. Occasional shift or weekend work may be required over time. You’ll follow established safety procedures, including TOMRA Safe and LOTO standards. You’ll be supported with training, tools, and a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

  • A solid foundation in electro-mechanical systems, with an interest in learning how to analyse, test, and repair complex equipment
  • A curious and solution-oriented mindset, with strong attention to detail
  • A customer-focused approach, with clear and confident communication skills
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider, supportive team
  • Flexibility to travel and manage your own schedule in a field-based role
  • Full UK driving licence
