The company is seeking a detail‑oriented and organised Payroll Administrator to join its team in Colchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, and providing support to employees on payroll‑related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Processes end‑to‑end payroll on a weekly and/or monthly basis
- Ensures all payroll transactions are completed accurately and within deadlines
- Maintains and updates employee payroll records, including starters, leavers, and contractual changes
- Calculates statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, and SPP
- Administers workplace pensions in line with auto‑enrolment requirements
- Ensures compliance with HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions
- Reconciles payroll reports and investigates discrepancies
- Responds to payroll‑related queries from employees in a timely and professional manner
- Liaises with HR and Finance teams to ensure accuracy of data
- Supports year‑end processes, including the preparation of P60s and P11Ds

- Demonstrable experience in a payroll role
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and procedures
- Experience using payroll systems such as Sage, ADP, or similar
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
