About Us

We are Tommies Childcare. Since 1998, we have provided exciting and memorable early years experiences for children aged 0 – 5 years. When you work at Tommies, you’ll be doing one of the most important jobs in the world: nurturing, protecting and helping children grow into well-balanced, happy and self-assured adults. Practitioners and educators at Tommies understand the value of following the child’s lead and placing their own interests at the heart of everything they do. You’ll be supporting children’s learning “in the moment”, which means you’ll need to think on your feet and create activities that meet the requirements of the EYFS based on what you know the children enjoy doing.

Job Summary

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioners to join our childcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children, supporting their early development and learning. Duties

  • Plan and deliver engaging activities tailored to the developmental stages of children in accordance with early childhood education standards.
  • Supervise children during playtime, mealtimes, and rest periods, always ensuring their safety.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily routines.
  • Organise and oversee daily routines, including arrival and departure procedures.
  • Support colleagues in managing behavioural issues using appropriate strategies.
  • Contribute to the organisation of nursery events and activities that promote socialisation and learning.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to childcare documentation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the nursery environment.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early childhood education setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and childcare best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with organising activities that promote learning through play.

  • 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing up to 25 days through length of service)
  • Earn up to 4 days of additional annual leave per year through good attendance
  • 30% childcare discount (increasing to 40% for Deputy Managers, and 50% for Nursery Managers)
