About the Role
We are a thriving private nursery in South West London seeking a confident and passionate Room Leader. This is a key leadership role, responsible for delivering outstanding early years education, ensuring children are school ready, and maintaining high standards across the nursery. While primarily based in the Preschool room, flexibility is essential as you will also support and lead other rooms as needed, ensuring smooth operations and consistent quality across all age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Room Leadership & Education
- Lead and manage the Preschool room, ensuring children are challenged, engaged, and school ready.
- Provide a rich, stimulating, language-rich environment promoting independence, creativity, and curiosity.
- Plan and deliver EYFS-based activities and monitor children's progress through observations and assessments.
- Step into other rooms when required, confidently managing different age groups.
- Parent & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents, providing regular updates on children's development and wellbeing.
- Organise themed learning weeks, special projects, and parent workshops.
- Safeguarding & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records, support inspection readiness, and ensure safeguarding compliance.
- Support risk assessments, room resource management, and health and safety standards.
- Operational Support
- Contribute to nursery events, open days, and wider community initiatives.
- Support occupancy, retention, and room budgeting/resource management.
Person Specification – Essential
- Holds a UK-based childcare qualification, minimum Level 3
- Minimum 1 year’s experience as a Nursery Room Leader
- Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and child development
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and confident across all age groups
Person Specification – Desirable
- Paediatric First Aid certification
- Experience contributing to successful Ofsted inspections
- Previous experience in a high-quality private nursery
