Deputy Nursery Manager – Southfields, London


Salary: £35,000–£38,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications


Contract: Full-time, permanent


Location: Southfields, Wimbledon, London SW19


We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and caring Deputy Nursery Manager to join our growing nursery in Southfields. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to lead the team, maintain high standards of care and education, and support the nursery’s continued growth.


Your responsibilities



  • Support the Nursery Manager with the effective day-to-day operation of the nursery

  • Deputise confidently in the Nursery Manager’s absence

  • Lead, motivate and support practitioners across the setting

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, welfare and child protection

  • Ensure the EYFS curriculum is delivered consistently and effectively

  • Support staff supervision, training and professional development

  • Help manage staffing ratios, rotas and daily deployment

  • Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues

  • Support quality improvement and preparation for Ofsted inspections

  • Ensure nursery policies, health and safety procedures, and regulatory requirements are followed


About you



  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above

  • Previous leadership experience in an early years setting

  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements

  • A confident, supportive and approachable leadership style

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A genuine commitment to providing outstanding care and education

  • Paediatric First Aid and Designated Safeguarding Lead training are desirable
