Our client based in Wellingborough is currently recruiting for an Estimator for a new position withing this new and expanding company,
Ideally you will have worked within a similar field and have transferable skills.
Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for solar energy projects, including residential, commercial, or utility-scale installations. Analyze project specifications, drawings, and site conditions to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements, ensuring compliance with company objectives and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Office based
- Review project plans, specifications, and scope of work to define project requirements.
- Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for all system components (panels, inverters, racking, electrical BOS, etc.).
- Calculate labour hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor costs.
- Collaborate with sales, to refine proposals and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Identify project risks and factor appropriate contingencies into estimates.
- Develop comprehensive, professional bid proposals and present them to clients or internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction or electrical estimating, preferably in the solar/renewable energy sector.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, components, and installation processes an advantage.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., MS Excel, specialized solar/construction estimating tools).
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and construction documents.
Salary is negotiable and dependant on experience.
