At the heart of Tom Dixon, we have a design and innovations studio working on the products, spaces and brands of tomorrow. Design Research Studio works with a wide variety of global clients across products, interiors, architecture, graphics, branding and content all under the creative direction of Tom Dixon and Helene Bangsbo Andersen. Rich in narrative, we nurture a fast-growing international portfolio that ranges from hospitality and retail to co-working spaces and monumental complexes. Linking into our network of design and manufacturing partners, our studio realises projects globally.
Reporting into the Managing Director & Regional Heads of Sales this role will help us to:
- Design Tom Dixon global retail & exhibitions of tomorrow by working on extraordinary design concepts, furthering the creative direction of the brand within retail & exhibitions.
- Successfully deliver design projects by assisting our internal team and coordinating consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Research to discover, realise, and encourage new and innovative ideas within the studio.
The main responsibilities include:
- Work closely with Heads of Design & Sales to understand & set the briefs & objectives for new Tom Dixon Retail and Exhibition projects.
- Manage the Retail and Exhibitions calendar to ensure projects are completed on budget, and within the set timeline.
- Develop innovative concept designs in response to internal briefs under guidance of the Managing Director & Regional Heads of Sales.
- Develop a good understanding of brand values, internal processes & working relations.
- Produce sketches & renders to describe & illustrate creative responses & direction.
- Prepare presentations including 3D, 2D, mock-ups and renderings for final approval.
- Produce CAD design intent drawings with a high level of technical detail & resolution.
- Create schedules including finishes, specifications, furniture & lighting.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and vendors to ensure a clear, smooth and timely delivery of design from concept to installation.
- Maintain industry knowledge to stay relevant.
The ideal candidate brings a balance of creativity, technical design, and management. They will be able to work in a fast-paced truly modern design studio. We are looking for someone with:
- Minimum of three years within Interior Design professional practice with experience of working in Retail & Exhibition design.
- Considers the relationship between creativity and technical design as fluid and are able to confidently deliver a design vision through all project stages.
- Works with the following software: AutoCAD, Rhino, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Is willing to take ownership for processes in our studio and in doing so help us reduce complexity and clarify our ways of working.
- Possess superb communication skills, someone who naturally ignites rapport and inspires people at all levels.
- Has a hands-on approach and is willing to take initiative to support & deliver extraordinary projects.
