About this freelance role
Work with our international legal team to draft, review, and negotiate commercial technology contracts while ensuring compliance in a fast-moving, innovative environment. Ideal for a junior lawyer or legal counsel seeking hands-on experience across SaaS and broader tech deals. This freelance based role reports to the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, software licensing, data licensing, professional services, reseller/distribution agreements, NDAs, and related pre-contract documents.
- Advise on contract terms, risk allocation, and compliance (EU, US and local requirements).
- Partner with sales, procurement, product, and finance to close deals on time.
- Create and continuously maintain templates, standard clauses, and negotiation playbooks.
- Support contract lifecycle management.
- Track legal developments impacting the business.
Key Qualifications
- English – Native
- Law degree from a recognised university (LL.B, LL.M, or equivalent).
- Qualified to practise in US, EU or UK, with 1–3 years post-qualification experience (PQE) ideally gained in a law firm (ideally in the technology transactions practice group) or in-house legal department (ideally at a start-up).
- Demonstrable experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts in the technology sector.
- Solid understanding of EU, US, UK and local contract law principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts in a clear, business-friendly manner.
- Strong organisational skills, detail orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Pragmatic, solution-focused approach with a willingness to get involved in varied legal issues.
- Experience and understanding of privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, US state laws, etc.) is a plus
- Experience negotiating intellectual property clauses is a plus.
