Location: St Anne’s Community Service Centre, St Leonards‑on‑Sea

Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (Mon‑Fri 09:00–17:00)

Job Overview: East Sussex CAMHS – Band 6 – Community Mental Health Practitioner. The role involves providing specialist assessment and intervention for young people in CAMHS via a multi‑disciplinary approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with young people and families referred to CAMHS via SPOA, conducting initial assessments and developing risk and care plans.
  • Liaise with other professionals and participate in MDT meetings to discuss appropriate pathways.
  • Provide brief solution‑focused interventions where appropriate.
  • Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating interventions, primarily in home or community settings.
  • Provide specialist assessment and intervention, including responsibilities on the acute care pathway.
  • Support care coordination within Tier 3 teams and attend relevant team meetings.
  • Supervise students on practice placement and junior staff as appropriate.
  • Participate in planning, development and evaluation of local services within Tier 3 CAMHS and liaise with Tier 4 services.

Qualifications:

  • Registered professional qualification (e.g., RN, SW, OT).
  • Post‑basic courses or study days completed.
  • Evidence of CPD and professional portfolio.

Experience:

  • Post‑qualification experience working with people with mental health problems.
  • Understanding and contribution to the clinical governance agenda.
  • Risk assessment experience.
  • Crisis resolution experience.
  • Experience of working with children, young people and adults at risk (safeguarding).
