Job Purpose:
To support the Head of Delegated Underwriting and Canadian Liability with the management, development, underwriting and administration of the Canadian binding authority and open market Liability account.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwriting new Canadian enquiries, renewals, mid-term amendments and referrals under delegated authority arrangements and in the open market
- Providing a service to and developing relationships with a panel of Lloyd’s brokers
- Assisting with the management and reporting of Canadian binding authorities
- Collating information to facilitate the monitoring of the performance of the Canadian account
- Attending broker / client / coverholder meetings
- Liaising with claims personnel and responding to requests for information
- Undertaking specific ad-hoc projects as and when required
- Assisting colleagues within the Professional Risks division as required
- Liaising with administrative support staff, and providing assistance where required
- Attending in house / external training sessions and actively maintaining own training record
Performance Objectives:
- To maintain and strengthen existing client and broker relationships
- To create and nurture new client and broker relationships
- To help develop and manage the portfolio
Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
- A minimum of three years’ relevant Liability experience with a Lloyd’s syndicate, London Market insurance company, or Broker
- Excellent organizational skills to assist in the management and reporting of the Canadian portfolio
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to aid broker and cover holder development
- Strong negotiating and business/relationship development skills
- Proven ability to solve problems and meet deadlines
- Minimum 3 ‘A’ levels at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Canadian SME Liability business
- Experience of handling binding authority agreements
- Knowledge of London Market/Lloyd’s placement/administrative processes
- Relevant insurance qualifications
- A high level of IT literacy, including Word and Excel
